My kick start into music was when I was in high school at the age of 15. I had the burning desire to be in a band even though I couldn’t play at all.
So I picked up the guitar and started playing. I went to some guitar lessons in the beginning and I improved quickly so it didn´t take long before I was practicing Paul Gilbert style picking and Yngwie Malmsteens sweep patterns.
For me it was all about speed. How to play heavier, harder and faster all the time.
After a while of being in bands and basically just repeating Marty Friedman and Yngwie style playing I got bored and I had to explore more guitar techniques and playing styles to make myself a more versatile player.
There is a strange thing with us Asian born guitar players. We are all trying to play faster and come up with more insane tricks than the other guy. There is a lot of technical skill in that part of the world but when it comes to actually composing the players in my country are still today mostly just repeating stuff that the western society has produced guitar wise.
The reason for me to play music is to show the people my emotions and to open up my heart and soul every time I get on a stage. Music is my freedom until I die…
